By handling everything yourself, you'll save money on labor, which frequently drives up the cost of full-service moves. But if you do the work yourself, all you'll be spending money on is the truck rental(with insurance), packing materials and gas.  It might save you $500-$1500 on the total move.. How much does it cost to move furniture across country? Moving a two-bedroom home over 500 miles from one side of the country to the other (North to South or South to North) costs, on average, $4,000 to $8,000. 1 bedroom range $3000-$6000

2 bedroom range $4000-$8000

3 bedroom range $5000-$10000

4 bedroom range $6000-$12000
